I might be doing some more posts soon – it’s not like there are a shortage of targets, especially with Ubuntu Millennium Edition.
Anyway I have this twitter thing so if there is anything worth writing about message me @SomewhatCloudy as I am the worlds worst emailer!
Welcome back!
Missed you
I find the logical reasoning and arguments on this website extremely useful in keeping a practical and realistic viewpoint when it comes to Open Source in General.
One example is the “Be Patient” mantra and when community developers ignore FOSS Community feedback because they simply don’t care or its too much work to implement their feedback.
Looking forward to hearing more
Good to see you’re back mate, we’re running out of stuff to talk about in the Linux Haters’ Blog comment section, we’re so desperate that we’ve turned to comparing Linux with colorectal cancer.
I’m still not sure which is worse.
I hope everyone has heard about the great example of FOSS testing strategies in a software project called, ‘Bumblebee’.
If not check that shit out: https://github.com/MrMEEE/bumblebee/commit/a047be85247755cdbe0acce6f1dafc8beb84f2ac
I eagerly await your return Kerabros. I can’t wait to trounce you in argumentation some more. Heil Stallman.
You know how it goes, Adam? How the usual sarcastic riposte is “don’t hold your breath?”
Just for you, I’ll make an exception. Hold your breath, metaphorically or literally. You’d be doing the world a favour either way.
And while you’re slowly turning the colour of the Ubuntu desktop, you can also google the word “argumentation.” I don’t think that word means what you think it means…
Don’t feed Adam King. Anyone that says “Heil Stallman” should just obviously be ignored.
For twice, you are right. Forget I said that.
Nice to see you back as well, Thomas.
I speak as an opinionated nametard, of course.
But it’s genuinely nice to see you back, Mr B. What have you been up to?
A few friends and I have been working on a cross platform VoIP client, hopefully to fill the void in the market with Microsoft haters considering their acquisition of Skype.
We’ve been writing it in longphpcodez
So the rumours that GPL assassins were on your tail were exaggerated?
You write that, Thomas (with a smiley. Stop that, won’t you?) and you get dissed on LHB for it.
A wonderful world we live in, isn’t it?
I don’t care. I’m just poking fun at myself. You can’t take the internet seriously.
Oh but he does, he does.
You can’t take Thomas B. seriously.
Fixed that for ya.
Oh but he does, he does.
And what is wrong with that? I really doubt that when you rip off someone online or distribute kiddie porn, you can get away with the resulting criminal charges with the excuse that “You can’t take the Internet seriously”. Blaming an inanimate object like the Internet for your attitude towards your own conduct is just pathetic and lame.
Nice to see Thomas B back again, however.
It’s amazing what exposure to the 4chan dregs over at LHB will do to your perspective, isn’t it?
It was nice to see my step-daughter skipping, and now she’s all grown up. It’s nice to see Thomas B growing up.
Inspirational, in fact.
What does your step-daughter have to do with anything?
Comparing people taking the piss on LHB with distributing kiddie porn or fraud? Stay classy, JoeMonco.
Comparing people taking the piss on LHB with distributing kiddie porn or fraud?
Oh, our ever-impressionable Ken Ham! Let me guess. Are you still a teenager? Or fresh out of high school? Twenty-something?
Well, what’s the difference anyway?
Here’s the deal – I am not the one here promoting the peculiar idea that an inanimate, unthinking object (i.e. the Internet) somehow dictates what you, as living, breathing, sentient being, post. But, by that same token, wouldn’t it be fair for me to say that CP (or 4chan-speak for “child porn”) and fraud are simply the result of what the Internet decides to have (though being inanimate and unthinking) and not your pushing the “submit” button?
We are reaching a new age of enlightenment here, people.
Oh, our ever-impressionable Ken Ham! Let me guess. Are you still a teenager? Or fresh out of high school? Twenty-something?
Well, what’s the difference anyway?
I don’t think you know a fucking thing about me, actually. *shrug*
Here’s the deal – I am not the one here promoting the peculiar idea that an inanimate, unthinking object (i.e. the Internet) somehow dictates what you blah blah blah
See, what you did wrong is take Thomas B’s comment out of context, twist it to mean something utterly different and turn it into some black and white moral situation.
Had Thomas realised his words would be taken out of context and twisted, he probably would have written something more specific like, “You can’t take the bullshit on Linux Haters’ Blog seriously.”
You sound like a Creationist, combing through everything your opposition say, seeing if you can take it out of context, twist the meaning, then declare victory. Well, sorry but you’re full of shit.
We are reaching a new age of enlightenment here, people.
Pffft. You’re reaching a new level of pompous fuckwittery more like.
I know you enjoy baiting people into long, tedious arguments about these things; so this will be my last post on the matter. If we can’t come to concordance after this, it’s likely we never will.
Joe Mongoloid blathered:
“Oh, our ever-impressionable Ken Ham! Let me guess. Are you still a teenager? Or fresh out of high school? Twenty-something?”
Weren’t you the one that had his panties in a knot because you thought everyone over at LHB was performing ye ole’ classic ad hominem?
LOL, Piestar returns and it’s nothing but carryover flamewars from LHB. Good luck rebuilding an identity, Piestar!
See, what you did wrong is take Thomas B’s comment out of context, twist it to mean something utterly different and turn it into some black and white moral situation.
Is “ThatsAGreyArea” a TM already? If not, we definitely need it.
Had Thomas realised his words would be taken out of context and twisted, he probably would have written something more specific like, “You can’t take the bullshit on Linux Haters’ Blog seriously.”
Let me give you a little wake-up call.
You are responsible for what you post, not LHB, not Internet, not any unthinking, inanimate object. Period. LHB does not cause you to post “bullshit” – you do. LHB does not require or request you to post “bullshit” – you do. LHB does not define what you are as a character – you do. Hence, whatever you do, it is ultimately you who have to bear the responsibility of your course of action, and if anyone decides to not take you as a person seriously due to what you say or do in LHB or anywhere else, that’s your fault – not LHB’s.
You sound like a Creationist
Back in the Medieval era, I would probably be called a “witch”, but, whatever.
Weren’t you the one that had his panties in a knot because you thought everyone over at LHB was performing ye ole’ classic ad hominem?
You mean that time when Anonymous kiddies got schooled for what “ad hominem” mean? Or that time when Anonymous kiddies lamented about LHB being “dead” by the torrents of “BM Suppository gay lovefest lulz”?
But, hell, what am I supposed to know about the intricacy of adulthood?
“You mean that time when Anonymous kiddies got schooled for what “ad hominem” mean? Or that time when Anonymous kiddies lamented about LHB being “dead” by the torrents of “BM Suppository gay lovefest lulz”?”
You can paint it in your head however you want, you still have nothing.
Back in the Medieval era, I would probably be called a “witch”, but, whatever.
Ahaha.
Yes, I’ve noticed it too. I’ve seen many people called “creatonist” on the internet, even though the topics had nothing to do with religion or evolution/creationism in any way.
I’ve even seen some one called “creationist” in a game forum because he liked some shooter over another.
It’s like some sort of universal deragotory word for fundy atheist types.
You can paint it in your head however you want, you still have nothing.
Likewise, my little friend. Likewise.
I’ve even seen some one called “creationist” in a game forum because he liked some shooter over another.
“Hitler”? That’s so 1945.
Indeed Joe Monoco. You really do have nothing.
Indeed Joe Monoco. You really do have nothing.
Mind if I borrow 50 cents from you for the bus, then?
Adam King, you’re an idiot. It’s people like you who are making everyone else look bad. Why do you get so worked up about Windows and Mac? It’s just software.
Most of the people here on Piestar and LHB don’t hate Linux itself, they hate the people who use Linux (i.e. they hate the people who use Linux and force their ideology on others). You actually hate Windows and Mac. Once again, it’s just software. It doesn’t really matter. Let people use what they want, it doesn’t hurt you, it doesn’t affect you in the slightest.
I use Linux, and you don’t see me making a big deal out of it (at least, not anymore). Either calm down and contribute some *real* criticism, or just go back to your Linux-users-only blog and post all the nonsense you want there.
Thomas B you have obviously become a winbred. I will pay no more attention to what you say.
Point proven.
It’s not “just software.” It’s freedom. People who advocate proprietary software advocate a world where corporations control us and are aware of our every move. If massive conglomerates can gain that much power there is no difference between them and the government. So stop advocating nazism and start advocating freedom.
You are delusional.
Well, Thomas.. and now you’re witnessing a true Linux fanatic in person.
Anyway Thomas, do you know the Penguin Day blog ( penguinday.wordpress.com ) ?
That site must have the best collection on true Linux fanatism on the net. if you don’t know it yet, check it out:
http://penguinday.wordpress.com/2010/08/11/ten-years-later-super-loon-edition/
I bet you didn’t know that Mafia$oft could revoke your windows license at any time just because they felt like it? Didn’t think so. Read those eulas next time winbreds.
Adam, give it a rest. You haven’t impressed anyone with your arguments. In fact you even managed to drive away someone who you could call an ally.
As regards revoking licenses and such, I hope that if you have phone service, cable or satellite service, a driver’s license, insurance, a money loan, or any one of a thousand other services, they can cut you off anytime they please. I hope you read all of THOSE agreements. I hope you also paid attention to stuff like “Early Termination Fees” and such when you signed on.
As per your comment about corporations controlling us, you best get off the grid, because every one of those goods and services I just mentioned above control you far more than any proprietary software ever could.
You think that by using something like Linux that the corporations can’t be aware of your every move? I have news for you. Every site you go to knows what you are doing there. They know where you are. Even trying to hide behind a proxy won’t stop you from ever being found.
Do you pay for every thing–goods, services, etc.–in cash? If not you leave a trail that can be followed by banks, credit companies, or the government.
Do you use a credit card with contactless payment? You could theoretically be tracked through the RFID chip in it. How about a cell phone? Do you have one? in that case, every moment that it is on, the phone company, police, fire, and the like can get a read on where you are at.
If you need to feel that you are saving the world to fight off paranoia, the sad fact is there are many more things out there to be paranoid about, and with much more reason. If you don’t want to be tracked in everything you do, I honestly and sincerely urge you to drop off the grid. Head to South America, or Africa, or somewhere else that has miles and miles of nothing around. Don’t settle where there is electricity. In fact it would pay not to use anything like a generator either since you would have to purchase fuel. You may also not want to build any kind of permenant structures since you might be spotted by satellite or plane. Don’t eat anything you can kill or grow yourself, although you may want to scatter your crops to avoid detection. (I could give you much more advice, but you aren’t really worried about being followed and controlled are you? You are mad because your chosen OS can’t even break the 1% barrier so you want to scare others away from the alternatives).
“You think that by using something like Linux that the corporations can’t be aware of your every move? ”
Yes. Through careful configuration and use of privacy tools such as TOR and privoxy the evil corporations can be avoided.
No… they can’t.

LOL, yes, let’s use privoxy to filter some ads and tracking cookies. They’ll never find me!
”
LOL, yes, let’s use privoxy to filter some ads and tracking cookies. They’ll never find me!”
I’m not saying to just use privoxy you reatarded winbred.
Better control that blood pressure, Adam! It’s giving you “fat finger syndrome”.
As I said, if you are going to be paranoid, you need to worry about LOTS more than software. Do you go to the same extremes as RMS? After all, he has all kinds of “free” software that he could use, but jumps through hoops to not even use that… in other words RMS doesn’t think that is good enough to keep from being spied upon. And guess what? As much as I hate to say it, he is right to an extent. If you don’t want some group tracking your every move, take my suggestion from above… drop off the grid!
Why should I trust that kludge named Linux to be safe? Don’t give the million eyes argument. a few thousand eyes maybe. And for every set of eyes looking for a problem to fix, you can bet there will be more looking for a problem to exploit. 99.9999999% of computer users are NOT programmers and have no idea what it is they are looking at, whether it is an exploit or not. Since anyone can just pop stuff into a Linux distro and market it as their own, you have NO way at all to know what they may or may not have hidden in it. You better hope that the kludge OS never gains significant market share because sooner or later someone will roll out a distro for robbing, raping and pillaging the masses.
You have no idea what software I do or don’t use stupid winbred slave.
@Adam King: You obviously cant give any reasonable argument so you just resort to insults. I expected more from you.
sigh. Adam, I see that Reason is not one of your strong points. If, if, you are going to try to be paranoid about software ruling your life, then you should really give some effort to being paranoid about the true corporations ruling your life. At least your exalted leader is consistent in that he doesn’t even trust Linux to deliver him his email and webpages. He jumos through multiple hoops to avoid it, avoid cell phones and the like. Either give into your paranoia and drop of the grid, or realize that no matter what software you use, companies and governments are always going to know what you are doing, when you are doing it, and where you are doing it from.
P.s. not to blow your cover or anything, but you’ve already been busted here before using Windows… who is to say you aren’t still using it and trying to reverse troll?
Who’s to say I’m not pretending to use Windows just to troll you hatetards? OMGOMGOMG HES USING TEH WINDERS!
Yeah, I’m using the retarded winbred software only cause I need my Powerpoint
Ah. I’m glad to see that you admit it, finally. Now… drop off the grid or shut up.
The previous poster is an imposter. I am the real Adam King.
Okay, who keeps posting using my name?
Fuck all you fake Adam Kings.
No, fuck you Adam King.
Sometimes, I think Joe and Adam are the same person.
Oh, John Stamos our true blue CS extraordinaire!
What could Piestar.net do without you?
Oh, John Stamos our true blue CS extraordinaire!
I’ve never fancied myself such, but if you say so!
What could Piestar.net do without you?
Be overrun with the boregasm that is the Joe and Queefer show?
“Be overrun with the boregasm that is the Joe and Queefer show?”
John Stamos is boring.
See? I know how to make sound bites, too!
You fags are winbreds.
Your cleverness and wits never cease to amaze, Joe.
I’m late to the game here, but welcome back!
Yeah, uhh, welcome back. Your stuff is good.
Oh yeah I’m using (anagram of suing)…
I’m using LongPHPCodez(TM) again! Finally! …
